in good shape, isolde - part 6
This resumes from a previous post in good shape, isolde - part 5. Patience pays is the password of this post of continuous enhancements. There is some progress in the quest for a perfect cup holder for Isolde. In my search for a cup holder, I started taking a programmatic approach on the mounting system. As I gave more thought to additional mounting needs in Isolde's cockpit (or wheelhouse if you prefer the nautical reference) the tool bar idea becomes very appealing.

carver p4 furnace for isolde - part 5
This is a continuation to a previous post carver p4 furnace for isolde- part 4.
Why so many damn parts, one may ask. The reason is simple. This is a blog, and not a review of a product publish on a for profit online media. Most of my posts are driven by the photos and video that I capture during daily life. They are not planned, but rather result from chance encounters or spur of the moment.

carver p4 furnace for isolde - part 4
This is a continuation to a previous post carver p4 furnace for isolde- part 3, and inside propex hs1800 - first look. I dug out a few video clips that I took a month ago of the two furnaces in operation using a Radio Shack sound level meter. The setup is nothing vigorous as would be done in an accurate sound level test (there are a number of specs as to how a vigorous tests should be done which is beyond anyone without access to very expensive test equipment and laboratory). It is a lot better than making a video and recording the sound with a microphone alone.

inside propex hs1800 - first look
The rather loud and unrefined operation of the Propex HS1800 furnace has bothered me ever since I purchased it as a backup for the Carver P4 I installed in Isolde circa 1999. The price difference of the Propex was within 10% of the Carver P4 being at 18% less in BTU capacity compared to the Carver. I have always suspected it is a simpler design with lower cost of bill of material. Tonight, I decide to open it and examine.
carver p4 furnace for isolde - part 3
This is a continuation to a previous post carver p4 furnace for isolde- part 2. In 1999 I was one or the first group of customers purchased one of the Carver P4 furnace brought in by a small US camper aftermarket accessories vendor. The vendor was importing them in quantities of 10 or 20 units at a time in which the customers pre-ordered the purchase.
