view towards tsim sha tsui 尖沙嘴 ocean terminal and star ferry 天星小輪 pier from central district 中環 harbor front - an iconic star ferry 天星小輪 in the foreground
gazing down the engine room of the star ferry 天星小輪 - something I always do as a child when taking the ferry; the smell of diesel fuel and lubricants, and the warmth of the engine room in a chilly winter crossing brings back so much memory
hong kong harbor night scape viewed from tsim sha tsui 尖沙嘴 harbor - IFC building is the tall one
causeway bay 銅鑼灣 main street with the iconic double-decker tram 電車
always love the old-world interior with the gleaming no-nonsense ss handrails
one of the ever-vanishing colonial architecture - former police headquarter in central
times square 時代廣場, causeway bay 銅鑼灣 x'mas decoration
ikea in causeway bay 銅鑼灣 - it is below ground with nearly all identical merchandises as in the US
herbal tea store with the iconic traditional copper vessels - alas now typically the bitter herbal teas 涼茶 are not the same...
diace - toyota's answer to VW's famed transporters including the vanagon
chinese dry-cured ham 中華火腿; somewhat similar to spain's jamon and italy's prosciutto
ap liu street 鴨寮街 is a street where street vendors sell surplus electronics - a street loved in my youth; in those days you can get a bite of very delicious street food along one end of the street. now the vendors mostly paddle the same junks you find on temple sreet 廟街 instead of surplus electronic components
these folks make a very hard living salvaging and repairing very tired and worn equipment - my affinity with them may due to my experience in the city during my youth
one of the biggest cookware stores on shanghai street 上海街 - hong kong's 香港 equivalent to kappabashi-dori 橋道具街 in asakusa 浅草 near tokyo 東京
old world coffee and tea parlor in the "food court" of a government market building in kowloon city 九龍城
simple toast 多士 and coffee 咖啡 in old hong kong style
traditional chinese herbal pharmacy 中藥房 - this shop must be one of the first tenants of the building
double decker vehicle ferry used to run between jordan ferry pier 佐敦道碼頭 and many piers in hong kong island - now just a for-hire sightseeing party ferry
