brunnhilde's ventilation fan - part 4

Some cheap thrills arrived from Amazon. All these years only now that I broke down and bought a cable tie gun as they are so cheap now and they are knockoffs of a classic American design. You never have too many precision wire cutters so I bought 5. Also this cheap 12Vdc digital thermostatic switch.

I want to add a thermostatic switch to Brunnhilde's bath skylight ventilation fan. As I leave it powered when the camper is not being used in the summer to prevent the interior temperature from getting too high. I'd like the fan not to run unnecessarily so this cheap China made module is perfect for the job. It is so light I can just tape it to the foam board together with the fan.

first trim off the excess length of the pins so the board may be taped to the foam board

While shopping for this cheap digital temperature controller I saw you can now get them with a clear plastic case. I decided not to add the extra weight to the foam board as few were ever killed by 12Vdc even in the wet bath. Lightness and simplicity won the day.
😵

these are nice wire cutters for like $2.25 each in bulk pack of 5

I almost screw up on the location of the module as the foam board is not square; a mistake will mean the cable would not reach the receptacle pigtail

installed and bench-tested

better modern motor-camping through low price China made electronics;  next is to add a safety tether

the simpler the better; this elastic cord came with a pair of shoes to keep them together when people test fit them 😆

the tether will save the sink from damaged should the fan assembly got dislodge by the wind

The foam board does more than what meets the eyes. It functions as a good solar shield even when the fan is not on. The fan allows me to have good ventilation even when it is unsafe to fully open the skylight due to strong wind.

This post wraps up this ventilation fan project for the Mini Heki skylight in the bathroom.
