pining for a vacuum bag machine - part 2

I have been deliberating of buying a vacuum bag sealing machine on and off for a long time. I have not purchase one due to my skepticism with common household small kitchen appliances. I have began making my own sausages and more recently smoked salmon. Making sausages (cured meat in general) and smoked salmon are much more work than preparing a meal. You want to make a big batch for the effort to be worthwhile. It also cut down waste as well as lower cost through the economy of scale.

It all started in mid March. There is this robin keep flying into the clerestory windows of my living room. I was very puzzled with its strange behavior.

luckiest birdies - a near disaster

Of all the trees on my property I treasure this very old plum tree the most. It gives me the protection from the sun from sun rise to late afternoon. I built a raised deck around its trunk to take advantage of the shade offered by its canopy.

cantonese noodle with oyster sauce 蚝油撈麵 - part 2

This is a continuation of my recent post on Cantonese noodle with oyster sauce 蚝油撈麵.

Having been on a diet of Western dishes recently I begun to crave some Asian food. Most of the Asian dishes I like to make tends to provide a lighter diet. I actually dislike the word diet (to DIE with a Tease) for it's common connotations. I believe if you eat real food and eat sensible proportions cuisines from different cultures prepared from fresh ingredients can be equally healthy.
