The much needed 3/4" brass elbow finally arrived. I proceeded to install the 3/4" cold water line supplying the bay with the floor drain, and the outside water hydrant at the overflow parking area by the barn.

an anatomy of a simple dish - part 2

I made this stir fried noodle dish, using the same marinated beef, shrimps and shiitake mushrooms as in part 1. I am just using what I have on hand for this dish.

an anatomy of a simple dish - part 1

Often when I make a simple dish for time and labor expedience there are more than the preparation time for that meal. Likely I use ingredients that are prepared ahead of time, and in bulk. A stock base and marinaded meat, seafood, and shiitake mushrooms are some examples.

mother of all hose wheels

In the design usage of the barn, I planned for one of the four bays to have a floor drain should I ever want to wash down a vehicle in the mid of winter. I don't plan to use it that much. Also it would be very convenient to be able to wash down the floor and squeege the water down the drain. I routed a 3/4" cold water line to that bay, which also allows the filling of fresh water into my compact motorhomes. When the chance presented itself for a 115 feet retractable hose wheel I jumped on one.

a temporary sink in the barn

At this point, I have not enable fresh water and sewer in the barn. I didn't want the water plumbing to freeze before I install a reliable source of heating which is the multi-zone mini split heat pump. A utilize sink would be very welcoming until the full bath and kitchenette are install down the road. While I have procured a Rinnai full size on demand water boiler that would not be installed until a lot more finishing work is done to the interior of the barn.

repairing my engel portable refrigerator

I bought this true compressor based portable refrigerator when Engel was the only game in town. It was a purpose made curation that it would fit into the boot of my 2005 Mini Cooper S, for the express use of grocery shopping in which I can preserve meat and live seafood. I can be powered by 120Vac or 12Vdc without the need of any external power converter.

hydronic heat for the barn - part 1

For the construction of the barn project, I designed, acted as the owner general contractor, procurement of most material, partook in as a laborer in all aspects of the construction. More important I handle and installing all the utilities including power, gas, water, sewer, drainage, plumbing, network IT, the HVAC as well as hydronic heating. I specified and installed the three 550-lb garage doors myself.
