this and that - hong kong 2012, part 2

queen's road in central early morning

an early bird stall

many stalls are not open yet
 fragrance shop

a typical hardware store in central
a traditional rice shop - not too many of these left; it is still there probably it's main business is whole sale
one of thousands of soup noodle shops - this one is relative unusual as it serves Nanking beef soup noodle

one of the many old business in Sheung Wan

i gather it wholesale of some food commodity - they have two business names in this building which they likely own for decades
 a metal fabrication shop

 mostly stainless steel fabrication
these are the unsung heroes of cities best presented shops
one of the few steeply staired streets that so far escape the ruin of escalator transformation

while there are thousands of restaurants and street food stalls each finds its clientales - this one serves budget lunch meals
this cleaner must have been here decades
in a few hours this shopping street would be a sea of people

Kong Kong is famous for the fragrant milk tea. A lessor known counterpart is Kong Kong style coffee served with evaporated milk. Sometime condensed milk is also added. A good cup is very hard to find these days however. I like Honolulu Cafe 檀島咖啡室 in Central. It is very rich cup of coffee even with copious amount of evaporated milk.

fresh produce markets are one of my must see places in my travel

this restaurant is very famous for its roast goose; a family owned business with long history; the brothers own it was embroiled in family feud that threaten the on-going concern of the very successful business
