macau - 2008
I was browsing through my old photo albums today. I found some photos that I had not posted previous and here they are. These are from my trip to Macau in 2008. While Macau is very small many of these photos were taken off the beaten paths of tourists.
this is a very old temple
ceramic figurines on the peak of the roofs
kindergartners
you could still see what macau old neighborhoods looked like few decades ago and it is a very livable place
this is a newly constructed temple funded by private money that are native of my parent's home town
while it is new, the craftsmanship is top notch with no spare in expenses
it was a breezy weekday in winter; the temple can be access by private cars or taxis so we pretty have the temple to ourselves
they are installing fiber optic communication cables under the temple floor!
The temple is located in Taipa 氹仔 which is an island connected to the "Macau proper" with a few bridges.
one of the three bridges connecting Taipa 氹仔 and "Macau proper"
i hate to guess what these waterfront villas cost
a giant status of Tie Guan Yin 鐵觀音 (the goddess of mercy)
back to the macau proper
the pint size sedans are common place commensurate to the small size of Macau
this is taken on the China mainland side of the border crossing; back in 2008 it is far less congested as there were not much tourists from China mainland; this relative serenity has been forever broken many years ago
