this and that - oregon sep 2014, part 2

this is part 2 of this and that - oregon sep 2014
brine a big batch of Chinook salmon for smoking
i am getting very good in using just enough brine for a big batch of fish so very little waste of salt; i prefer smoked salmon with just a hint of sugar

been toying with the idea of a electronic piano for learning

sanding down the paint to investigate the extend of the fracture fiberglass skin

the fracture consists of a 1 inch long crack at the rail of the board; i bought a measure of  3-ounce unidirectional graphite (carbon fiber) cloth to repair it; i chose graphite because of the crack is at a high stress area

 a smoked salmon dinner
 still more smoked salmon meal
i watch a lot of movies and have been wanting to upgrade the old 42" plasma to the biggest size suitable for the family room area; this LG 60 inch is one of the best looking one; while I would like a 70 inch, 60 inch is at the current price sweet spot of LCD TVs

 pan seared mahi mahi

my new racing harness - it is so nice to have the new spreader bar system in which the webbing does not suffer from being cut through by the stainless steel spreader bar
the old harness - after a few days of use the webbing already show signs of wear
the insect screen in Brunnhilde now fails to retract
a soup noodle snack made with slices of mahi mahi
I have been buying salmon from Suzy in this Yakama Nation fishing reservation
she has been selling these canned smoke salmon to US troops deployed overseas; I am so glad to see her enterprising endeavor
i made a quick meal out of Suzy's canned sockeye to stem the hunger between sailing sessions
steak with sweet corn and mushroom

i haven't sail at Doug's beach for over a decade
looks like being incarcerated - with a view to the windwhipped river

this is one of the beautiful camping site along the Gorge
and I just invested in an annual park pass of Washington state
more Brunnhilde's selfies

while waiting for wind to build near Maryhill State Park I watched the live Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 6s and and the soon to be released Apple Watch
a hearty breakfast made with smoked salmon

on a windless day in the Gorge
near Lyle, WA
i was taken by the simple beauty of this picnic shelter
at the White Salmon Fish Hatchery - it doubles as a windsurfing and kiteboarding park
features a rather rocky launch site
i bought 2 chinooks from Suzy again; i kept them in Brunnhilde's chest refrigerator - love that refrigerator of how versatile it is
slowly my filleting skill is improving

i made this dinner and shared with my neighbor Terry
i saved the skeleton and made a broth

while i brine all the fillet for preparation for smoking, i kept this to be cooked fresh
in autumn the wind in the columbia river gorge reverses direction; this day i sailed east wind at rooster rock state park
still more salmon meal
finally i got around to unpack the new 60" LG LCD TV

getting onto Brunnhilde's un-Dodge project

the 316-CDI emblem replaced the 2500 one Dodge putted on

this is the step-wise refinement of the grey water discharge system; i decided there is no need to carry the flexible hose; these segments of PVC pipes and fitting should handle 95% of discharge situation
these 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe segments should cover just about any grey water dumping situations

10-foot swimming pool hose (stored in a wine box) vs much simplified system of PVC pipe segments
so easy to clean - i just hose it down with the exterior shower
this is how I fill the flush water storage of the cassette toilet; easy as pie
more photo of the 316 CDI emblems
the 316 CDI emblems concludes the undoing of the Airstream NAFTA James Cook bastardization in restoring Brunnhilde back to the Westfalia's aesthetics
still more salmon meals - no one ever dies from eating too much salmon

sunday is small engine maintenance day

i made enough smoked salmon to last me the coming winter; i begun to freeze the fresh salmon after portioning and then vacuum-bagging them
i selected the LG LCD TV because it is the prettiest of all in the price point; it has the most exquisite set of legs; the down side is it requires a surface that is nearly 50-inch in length; i contemplated repurpose the legs of this school desk to make a TV stand; i really like the look of these legs

there is no simple way to use these legs without quite a bit of metal work including cutting and welding; for now i decided to defer the project as i have more deferred projects than i can shake a stick at
still more salmon
the new LG LCD TV in the temporary location
the Ikea TV stand i placed the old 42-inch plasma TV is too narrow for the new 60-inch LG LCD TV
Suzy's canned smoked salmon - in truth it is too sweet for my taste
the center channel of my Sony receiver finally failed after the service of nearly two decades
i really want to avoid having to buy a new receiver (with multichannel sound like DD5.1 and DTS5.1) so i attempted to repair it

i decided that i don't want to take on a project of building a TV stand; i decided to use the Marcel Breuer's Laccio table and it just barely fit - the Laccio table costs as much as the TV

my neighbor Patrick is a car enthusiast - this Lotus is one of his many tasteful rides
autumn the wind begins to reverse direction from West to East; i arrived early to Rooster Rock State Park; the wind averaged over 30 mph that day
