this and that - oregon nov 2015

I recently sorted out the propane gas plumbing in Isolde and this freed up one 2-stage regulator. I re-assigned this regulator to use with the Proplex forced air furnace in the backyard studio for comfort heat.

The electrical update in Isolde also freed up this group 42 battery I need to use the 12Vdc Proplex furnace in the studio.

the automotive battery (the old aux battery freed up from Isolde electrical update repurposed for this use) is there to support the start up surge current the heater requires; the battery is kept charged by a trickle charger in the photo

this is a very common home cooked Chinese steamed dish - a sort of like French quiche but without the crust; i made it with the left over juice from a steamed clam and chicken dish

i bought this stove top toaster for Isolde

i started binge viewing of this Belgian TV mini series Salamander; just as i gotten really hooked, it vanished from Netflix the next day; unbeknown to me this is amongst many movies and TV series to disappear on Netflix at the end of October; the story is a political intrigue and has many elements and styles like The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo Millennium Trilogy

the steam dish like this can serve 3 persons - hence makes for a low calories meal

braised daikons in pork bone broth and dried shrimps

japanese braised baby taro with beef
long before iPod there were the minidisc recorders; the portable ones are electronic and mechanical wonders only the japanese could design and produce; i have a big collection of radio recordings which i listen at home; i decided to try using it in conjunction with many of my Alpine auto head units via their Aux inputs
the sound was terrible as I feared as the only way to connect them is via the headphone jack of the minidisc; digging into the matter a bit more I found the setting on the minidisc for making it "line out" and immediately the sound quality is what I expected; the line out has the right impedance the Aux input of the Alpine

i took advantage of the modest black friday small discount and bought these set of Koni for Isolde; these cost a bit but since i managed to keep the cost well under control in the recent electrical system update these will be icing on the cake on the list of enhancements

Raspberry recently announced the single board computer for just $5. I am tempted to get this Raspberry Pi Zero and start playing with it. Of so much potential for use to create a smart enhancement in the Westfalia campers, I am surprised I have not seen anyone doing a project with all these micro-microcomputers.
