the barn at the ranch - part 4

These photos are from October of 2020, when I first begun to plan for "the barn". The utility company came and reroute the 7.5kV electric feed between the power pole and the step down transformer. I had to pay for the cost of this work, so the building site would be ready for ground breaking.

the main electric feed from the 7.5kV step-down transformer to the meter and the first breaker panel; I ordered a utility locate from the power company to locate the underground 7.5kV power feed which I am not allowed to build on top of

I was planning on running a long propane gas line from this 500 gallon tank to the barn which is about 100 feet away

the red paint marks the underground 7.5kV electric feed

I had to pay for the rerouting of the underground electric feed as it cut diagonally across the planned building site

the PUD (public utility district) utility crew showed up to re-route the line

we were very surprised to find two conduits as we were expecting only one; it turned out the other was a provision by the previous owner for telephone landline or internet which is just an empty conduit

a rough floor plan of the barn interior; there are four equal size bays

this power line would turned out to be a challenge for the utilities runs for the barn, which includes propane, 240V electricity from the main breaker panel, water, fiber optic cables, additional outdoor hydrants, and sewer

a drainage hose for the planter shed roof

the 7.5kV power feed consists of a coaxial aluminum cable that needs only a 2 inch diameter conduit, but pulling a new cable about 300 feet is no easy task as there is a lot of friction and they are only allow a total of 360 degree bends

it took the crew about 6 hours to get the job done and they have all the right equipment

my propane tank is only used for cooking and heating hot water

here you can see the diameter of the coaxial cable WRT the 2" conduit; here is where they abandon the old run segment that is under the building footprint

they used this special split connector to spice the new conduit to the old

the lineman connecting the new cable to the transformer which convert it down to two legs of 120Vac of 200A service
