filet mignon

I was shopping for my weekly grocery in the other side of town in a Asian store I am a long regular. I came upon this still-in-the-pack filet mignon on sale. It is an entire filet mignon of a cow and in the dark plastic package the slaughter house use. Store normally divide it up into smaller portion to put on sale.

these two small pieces were from the small end - i pan seared it under high heat

For a very long time I had no clue how to cook steak. I had less than stellar results grilling them until I finally realize searing them in high heat is one secret.

served with a heap of lightly stir fried watercress - i love the subtle hint of bitterness in them
juicy inside, very tender and full of flavor
